Any LS1 people here or have friends?

I hope the principles of this web site allow this, but this LS1 is driving me crazy!

Ignition relay in 2000 LSI Camaro, 14K miles

My wifes Camaro intermittently turns off when driving normal due to the ING relay under the hood blowing. I replaced it with the fan relay and was able to get it home.

Today it blew again with a brand new relay!

I also noticed the fuses on the drivers door, the PCM IGN has a 1 amp fuse, not as the stickers says, 10A.

Did the previous owner try to make the fuse blow first to avoid the monthly $60 relay hit?

The car is due for a new battery and I will check and secure all grounds, any thing else?

I know what is failing and I told the GM garage this, and they want to charge me hours of labor to make it do it again,,,, what that going to tell them? What’s blowing the relay????

Thanks friends!ttarider

sounds like typical gm cheapness to me. Also, they build them to break for extra revenue streams.

The newer the gm car is, the worse the quality. Really started down hill after 1993, and after 1996, it got even worse.

Sorry I can;t help. These things drive me nuts. I am an ac technician and I was trying to charge the ac in my cadillac and the computer wouldn;t let me. It took me 30 minutes to figure out how to override the computer. Most would have given up and gone to the mechanic and paid them $1,000. to fix it. And probably another $3,000 for "recommended repairs".

Income streams. THat's all it is.

I would check circuit 1039.. pink wire after the relay for shorts to ground causing the relay to burn out. Heres a wiring diagram
