TTA Cat Back Exhaust? & High flow cat recommendation?

TURBO1

Super Cool Member
Whats up group, I just sold my 78 T/A, and now the hunt is on for my future 89 TTA. I have a few questions on exhaust systems for the 3rd generation cars. What systems have people used that sound & perform good on a stock TTA? With or with out high flow cat? From what I read so far on differant sites: ATR was a good one, but no longer around. Was told to stay away from Flowmaster on turbo vehicles due to the baffles in side. The Magnaflow looks nice, but to quite for some & can't reuse the stock TTA tips. The Borla loos real nice, its adjustable, nice stock appearing tips, any one have one on a TTA? The Hooker system looks to be the best bang for the buck, but I would like to get a stainless steel system, witch this is not. And the GmmG system, looks really nice & differant, but pricy. Heard exhaust clip on you tube on a 3rd gen T/A, sounds mean, but how would it be on a TTA? Thoughts/input anyone???

I had Mufflex build a 3.5" exhaust for me with a 3" high flow converter and a Magnaflow turbo muffler. The muffler is stainless, but the exhaust is not. It has a single 3.5" outlet on the driver's side of the back. It sounds very good.

Mine is a stock 8,000 mile car, and I really want something that sounds more aggressive. But I do not want to ruin the stock look of the car. For the last two years I've have not been able to figure out what I want to do. I think the Borla has the best look. But I was also thinking of doing the electric cut out.

ive been thinking about doing the Borla, ive loved them on my other cars, you can always keep the stock exhaust, future owner or yourself could always put it back on

I've been listening to exhaust clips from many different system brands on both 3rd gen cars & GN's. Its hard to tell what a TTA would sound like with the same system from the 5.7L. Depending on the system, some V6's (non-turbo) can get raspy high pitch sounds. I personally like a a deep throughty rumble that means business but with out the drone when cruising. The Borla adjustable looks nice, but who wants to keep going under the car & play with tuning it all the time or I guess a cut out if your racing it. I'm kinda leaning on the GMMG system & reuse or find a set of stock looking tips to use on it. And the system looks different & sounds deep & mean. Any body have a GMMG on their TTA?

Yep the one I have is still totally stock with 16,000 miles and I have probably looked at the Borla more than any of the others. The thing I am most concerned about is the sound.:teehee:

I'm just outside of Charlotte, PM me if you are interested in getting together some time to hear mine. I'd like to see another TTA.

I agree. The sound is the whole reason for swaping the cat back. I just want to keep that stock look as well. I guess we just have to find someone with a borla to find out what it would sound like.
