Stock TTA heads

I have a few sets of heads. One stock and one new bare. I've heard from a few people that when doing TTA heads I should use LT1 springs...They really don't know why. Anybody have any experience with this aspect of the TTA engine?

I am not sure of th lt1 spring specs but wouldn't your cam size determine the spring you need?

Jason and Rich have posted about this before. Use the Comp 980's for the stock cam. You can run the LT1 (100-105#'s) with a bigger than stock cam.

If you have a roller cam you can use the Comp 941's. I like spring pressure for the cars that run higher boost. That's the only reason I like the roller.

I think the term "LT1 springs" has morphed into any spring that has roughly 90-105 closed pressure(seated). And 230 to 280 open pressure with an O.D. of around 1.25"

That would be comp cam's 980's or next seat pressure up, the 981's. I've never really gotten a GM part number to true LT1 springs and whether that means the early 70's LT engine or the 92-97 F.I. LT1's, but I suspect it is the latter.

If you don't race the car and run a stock to mild (212/212) flat tappet cam then I'd run the 980's. But if you race and spin your motor out quit frequently then I'd suggest the 981's on any cam.

That also means liberal use of ZDDP and more than likely changing valve springs every few years.
