This is part 2 to my Hot Start Problem thread. I am going to replace everything in the way to prevent my hot start problem. What is the best starter to replace the original. I just replaced the original starter, and everything works fine, but it still sounds different than most cars. I thought the old starter sounded funny when starting the car, so I replaced it, and it sounds exactly the same. Its hard to explain, but it sounds chunky, or thick when starting. Its kind of like a clunking sound. Where as all my other cars has that sharp high pitch scratchy sound right before the motor turns. What can this be, or is this normal? It starts up fine though. Quick6nKC if you read this, I listened to your starting sound, and it sounds right to me. Mine sounds nothing like yours. Again it is the sound when you first turn the key and the motor cranks. On most cars it reminds me of a match stricking the box. Also my mechanic was worried about the original starter not having any shielding, and being so close to the exhaust pipes. Is this going to be a problem? Should I go with a different starter? He thinks my starter sound is fine, as he checked everything in the way. thanks
