Radiator Leak

#579 has sprung a radiator leak. (driver's side tank) What's the best way to go about fixing this? (Repair?) Is there a performance replacement that people here like to use (Griffin, BeCool?) Should I install an aftermarket transmission cooler while I'm at it?

The very same thing happened to my TTA when I got it in TN. I had the radiator replaced with a new one, it was almost as cleap as getting the old one fixed.
I think it came from Discount Auto or Auto Zone. It cools fine and no worrys now.
Your could put one of those Becool ones in there, but I can't see spending $1,000 on a radiator, when the replacement works just fine.

One thing you might want to do when you put a radiator in and that is the cooling mod to make both cooling fans work when the a.c. is not on. It does help cool, especially in stop and go traffic.

Thanks Mike, I'll probably end up doing just that. I'm ordering the CAR Motorsports hoses.

BeCool's options run from $550-$750 + shipping apparently. (6x015)

Scott, I used the radiator hoses from Car Motorsports as well as the heater hoses.

I also changed the thermostat to a 160 degree thermostat, might as well do this while you have it apart. Do all these things and you don't have to worry about them later!!!:beach:

Seems like the last time i bought one of those tanks it was about $50, week later the other side did the same thing, i would try to find a new one from a good parts house (Napa ect...) or a STEALER.. sorry.. i mean Dealer. from what i can tell the GN guys like the f-body rads, so it may be worth hanging onto as a spare

make sure you put the b&M rv transmission cooler on it a fan wouldnt hurt for the trans cooler if u live in the south

My LS1 friend suggested the same thing to me. Does it bolt in or do I need to fabricate some lines?

you just run rubber hoses to it ... its not that hard I have 1 on my GN and one on my TTA

579 is back up and running. What a mess that job is.

Maybe it's just my intercooler shroud because it's torn to shreds and missing most of it's screws, but it caught coolant and diverted it away from my catch pan! :chair:

Otherwise, my biggest problem was getting the transmission lines off.
