Question - new Stabilus hood struts - end clip direction

Recently I got some new Stabilus hood struts from Highway Stars and I'm just now getting around to installing them. Should the end retaining clips both face in the same direction when installed? When I took them out of the package, they are facing in opposite directions, but the clips on the old struts on my TTA right now are both facing in the same direction (open side of the clip facing the engine, closed side facing the fender).

This probably seems like a trivial question, but, it's been years since I've done this and I don't want to end up making more work for myself somewhere down the line because I installed the clips wrong. It seems like it would be easier to install them with the open end of the clips facing the engine like the old struts.

just spin it , open goes over the stud post first then push until outside clicks into groove

Thanks pacecarta......that worked...when I originally tried to do that awhile back, it seemed like I was going to have to use a lot of force and I didn't want to break the new struts, so I stopped....but I used a different approach after reading your thread and I was able to rotate it.
