Pricing released for SLP Firehawk G8

There's been some controversy over the renewal of the Firehawk name. SLP recently released this picture and the pricing. Looks pretty good but pricing is steep. My guess is that with pricing like that the controversy won't last long since they won't be selling too many.

It's already been announced that Pontiac is scaling back production on the G8 from 10,000 units to 1,000. Couple that with the $40k price tag on the G8 GXP and things are not looking good. It might, however, be a good time to pick up a G8 GT if someone was interested. $33k sticker and I've seen them going for $25k new!

BTW, Autoblog.com is a great web site for keeping up with the latest automotive news.

I'm not sure I like them calling the G8 a firehawk. The G8 is a great car. But not something I could use as a daily driver around here in the winter, and not sporty enough for a summer cruser. Just my $.02

Actually the G8GT is a realy sporty car. I got a ride in a G8 GXP with the T56 and it was every bit as fun as the T-56 '04 GTO I had. With noticably more power and braking I would love to road couse lap a GXP.. I road course track dayed, autocrossed and drag raced the GTO and it was grand fun. I had no trouble keeping up with Mustangs in the GTO. Easier to drive than the TTA sinse it had no turbo lag.

I just wish I had the money to get one. The GXP at 40k is not as expensive as the TTA was twenty years ago at 31K. my $0.02

I think the G8, and GTO are great cars performance wise. I just do not like the body of the GTO. The G8 is better, but still does not look real sporty. Maybe its just my love for firebirds that I can't like anything else.

Pontiac should grow some freakin balls and re-release the Firebird, but screw what Chevy did. Instead of looking backwards for inspiration, go forward. Get more streamlined and aerodynamic. The vette doesn't look like a 67 vette. It evolved like things do and should.

Right on! :burnrubber:
