Thanks for the info, but I was looking for NOS pair of emblems. I know the restoration is look better but I'm going for authenticity. If you know anyone selling that has a set please post.
I wouldn't bother with OEM. You really can't tell the difference between nos and repo's that are out there. Just make sure there is 3M tape on the back. The odds are if you find NOS ones they will be corroded and the gold will fade off the OEM ones much faster. They were just bad in general. I took the entire set off mine and replaced them with repro's and it was the best thing I ever did. Everyone notices the difference!
I agree with Jim. Mine still has the original emblems on it and it will stay that way untill I repaint the car. Then I am going to put all new emblems on it and the originalls will get packed up with the rest of the old parts. Yeah they are not OEM, but they are very nice reproductions that look the way the originals should have, and will last much longer. Most people would never now the difference, except for other owners or hard core enthusiasts.
I'm also looking for a pair of the Turbo Trans Am fender emblems, and also a front nose emblem. If anyone has these, maybe removed from their car to replace with new ones, I would be interested - they don't have to be perfect but decent. Let me know how much you would want for them.
thanks,
Charlie
I have my original nose emblem that I replaced with a newer one back in 1992. It has cracking on it which was supposedly a trait of the original emblems. I got a newer one from GM parts Dept. back in the day. I think they had problems with the emblems from the start and may even had a recall or "notice/update" Dad was a Pontiac dealer and I remember at some point we got some new emblems. Cloudy now, been a while.
