I purchased an 89 Turbo Trans Am about a month ago. I had random incidents where the car would not crank for no apparent reason. After about a half an hour to forty minutes of attempting to start the car at five (5) minute intervals, the car would crank and start. A GM mechanic suggested that I determine the resistence value of my ignition key and insert a resistor of equal value in the key circuit wiring to the Passkey Decoder Module. I did so and had no start up problems until today. Same situation as before; no crank for forty minutes at five minute intervals, then the car started and ran. Also, please note that the car came with and is running a Thrasher Chip #92-30KT.000. Might this chip have an effect on this start up problem?
