Hi all!
Well, I finally got thru! Or, I should say, got a reply back.
This is what I got so far.........
The project is still on the list of cars (diecast) to do.
It seems that Lane(the company who was going to do the project) just renamed their diecast division to Exact Replica.
I am going to resend all the names of the people who showed an interest in the project (as well as their car numbers) out this weekend. If anyone else would like to still be added, please send me an email, so I can get it out with the updated list. Also, if anyone is thinking about getting all four versions, please let me know. I'm sure this will help in deciding on production (as the company only produces these diecast in limited runs only).
Send replys to: [email protected]

I will be posting any updates as I get them!

Have a good one,

George

Hi justaTA and everyone else,
If you can, could you please email me at:
[email protected]
Give me your name, TTA car number, and Options (T-tops, leather), as well as which diecast you want (all versions or just your car as optioned).
I copy these and send them out with the list. When they make these diecast cars, the car numbers will only go to that owner.

Thanks,

George

Hi all!
There was talk of around $100.00 per car, maybe alittle more!
I haven't heard anything more about this, hopefully it is still being worked on.
I am also working on another approach to this. I will keep you posted when I find out anything more.

Have a good one,

George

Robert,
Contact PHS (their link is on http://www.transamgta.com), for a fee, they will send you a letter stating your build number. It is pretty nice to have if you show your car.
There was a link somewhere, but I don't know if it still works or not. I myself, when the PHS route. You will probally also get a Press Photo of the Turbo Trans Am also from PHS!

Hope this helps,

George

The project died!
I have been to SEMA, and talked direct to Ertl/Lane, and they show no desire at all.
Seems it costs them a ton of money to get the linense fees paid to everyone! Even though they have done some Indy pace cars!
I still hound them about it!
I even gave them a list of websites to check the diecast treads!
They basicly want "us" to buy all 1555 at once, paid in full, ahead of time!
I sure don't have that much money!
Also, on another website, a webmaster is trying to get another diecast company to do it. This company does cheap versions, and is known as using wrong decals and wrong car parts. They did an 1980 Indy Pace car without a turbo hood. just the same standard Trans Am hood, which the Pace car didn't use. Not intrested, thank you!

But, I keep trying!

George

I've got a friend who designs cars for Johnny Lightning. I asked him about fitting a TTA into a series and he said it was very unlikely. However he said I could get them special ordered but would have to purchase 2000 units at $5 a piece plus $18k to have a tool made for opening hood, wheels, and tires. I told him that was a little much for me but he said if I could come up with half the tooling he could try to convince the company to do it but it wouldn't be done for a couple years (probably 2007). Oh and the car wouldn't go into their production line so it would be an exclusive production to be distributed by someone outside the company (the one who gives them the money for the tooling). So the cars would be rare.

So any of you rich TTA owners who would like to pitch in about $18k into the community so we can get some Johnny Lightning cars made I can set it up. The cars could be sold for $20 a piece (I think that's a reasonable price for a high quality car) and a profit could probably be made by whoever is willing to help out with the money.
