New Plug Wires

TTA984

Gold Member
I thought I would see how they really fit, the original TTA plug wires. I really like the heat shields and the wires fit the car like a glove!

Very nice Mike. Shields work well too.

Wasn't there supposed to be reproduction of the originals? What ever happen to that?

I suppose the reproduction ones never came about! It sure would be nice to have ones made.
After using the wires with the shields it would be hard to go back to wires without shields!:dirol:

Thanks Joe, Raymond! Working on it now, I took off the Alky pump yesterday and going to send it to Julio for a rebuild. It has been on there since 2011, started leaking internally, so needs rebuilding. They really need rebuilding every 2 years!

Wow your engine bay looks fantastic. Could you post a couple more shots. Wires great too!

Thanks, trying to return the TTA and Syclone to more of a factory . I will be getting a change from the chrome Turbo Shield and going with a powder coated one as well as some other changes are under way. The Syclone I recently went with the stock air box and I think it looks better!:beach:

Wow, you vehicles looks super nice! I've also thought about going back to the factory look while somehow maintaining the performance level that I'm currently at. People will be dumbfounded at the track. Lol:boxed:

Scott Kelly seems to be pretty adamant about the stock air box being equal or better than the cone, i've never compared the two but i would be willing to bet that one will not feel 3tenths of a sec. in the 1/4 mile or any other rpm.

I believe the only reason they did not use a different setup from the factory was due to emissions and the engine / powertrain not having to be recertified if they left it as the GN (already certified) setup ....

Can't remember what they used on the TTA HO car they built; I can ask Bill Owen when I speak to him next ...

I think Grumpy used his maf pipe and a cone filter and just left it in the engine bay near stock location. He said it worked best if I am not mistaken. Simple..

I can only see that air box as another restriction. Kinda like the old KB air intake system that slowed the Turbo Buicks down.

Maybe this thread will catch Scotts eye. Wires and shields would be great.

Joe

Wires with shields would be great, I tried using insulator socks on previous wires, they kinda looked funny!
Also people that have looked at my TTA said, where are the TTA wires, I would say they are in boxes. So I had to use a set and they are great with the shields!

I will maybe stick with the cone K&N filter on the TTA for now. But on the Syclone, with the stock airbox you have way better fit and it supports the air crossover pipe much better.
