I brought home my TTA today. She has 8,200 miles and is stock. I have a few questions I need help with.
1) what type of oil and filter should I use? Is there an additive to the oil to use when an oil change is done? What weight too?
2) my friend told me to let the car idle for about 2 minutes before turning her off after use, is this true?
3) should I throw in a fuel additive to clean the system and injectors?
4) is there a company I can buy accessories such as a car cover and seat covers?
5) for members who live in NY, is there a shop that can be recommended to perform service on her?

1. 10W30 non synthetic with a napa or wix oil filter, add zddp for each oil change. Zddp additive is available from vendors on turbobuick.com.
2. This is to allow time for oil to flow through the turbo and cool it before shutting off the motor.
3.sure some fuel injector cleaner
4. Look up carmotorsports and hawks third gen

The Napa filter is the Napa Gold 1086 ... Wix is the manufacturer for Napa Gold and the Wix number is 51086


I would also recommend you put a FilterMag (see FilterMAG: Magnetic Oil Filters finish the Job Your Filter Started.) on the oil filter to catch small metallic pieces in the oil .. and helps when you cut the filter open to see if there's anything in there you should be worried about ... see Oil + Filter Change .. The Napa 1086 is 3.65 inches and the FilterMag that fit is the SS-365 or the RA-365 ... I'm using the SS-365 in mine

2. that is mainly after a wot run, even then if you drive it for a few miles after wot ( vs. right before you pull in your driveway) all's good, it is to keep the oil from coking.
The general view on synthetic oil is that it create's oil leaks, but you could get 100% of world population to agree on one religion before you could get half to agree on a particular oil...

3.) based on a lot of stuff that I've read, I'd be sure to use some type of fuel additive to try to "neutralize" the problems due to the ethanol in today's gas.
2.) A lot of folks use and recommend the synthetic oil (10W30). I was told that my GN has never had anything except Mobil 1. Most guys say that every Buick 3.8 will leak oil (all 3 of ours do). Oh yeah, with ZDDP additive.

I use mobil 1 10w30 but that's me.About someone able to do work on these cars David Husack he is the owner of Turbo Buick Performance,he specializes in performance transmission for the turbo regals.But he does all other performace work also,he knows his stuff.He did a performance transmission on my tta, the transmission performs excellent ,super happy with he's work.Give him a call tell him Emilio recommended you he's number is 1 516-860-5287.or 1 516-285-1103.:idea5:
 
Those wings are probably one of the worst things about these cars. You have to baby them or they will not hold up! So the wing and the bumpers are not metal and the paint will look different, especially with 20 or more years on the car.

Don't expose it to the elements outside, such as rain, UV rays and moisture. The original wing will crack and need replacing when not cared for. A lot of the member have had theirs replaced, but I am trying to hang on to my original one!:beach:
 
That is what I thought. I am putting on a hand polish to keep the oils in the paint and a few coats of wax.
