New guys needs 80 TTA exhaust manifold help

Last week the wife bought herself a pretty decent 59,000 mile all original 80 Turbo T/A.

It had a slight exhaust leak on the driver's side, I figured it was probably leaking at the exhaust manifold flange and a new seal would fix it.

Yesterday I got it out of the garage and it was significantly louder so the wife runs it down the street to our local garage. They put it up on the hoist and discovered the bottom of the driver's side exhaust manifold had rusted through and passenger side is looking weak as well :eeks:

This is our first Pontiac, I'm a long time Mopar guy so my knowledge of GM products is limited. I'm used to finding cracked exhaust manifolds, but never have I seen one actually rust out. Is this a GM thing or is it unique to this particular car?

Do the manifolds interchange with non turbo 301 engines or are they unique to our T/A?

I'm thinking if they're unique. If they are, am I looking at a never ending search for replacements?

Is there an aftermarket alternative available, ie headers that don't require refabbing all the turbo pieces?
