Issues on 83 TA

First post here. I wanted to start off by saying that I respect all fast car regardless of make or model. As you can see by my sig that I drive a built and boost import. I do all my work myself. I have an extensive knowledge of building engines and FI systems on Hondas. Although, when it comes to carbs and V-8's i'm clueless. In other words, I dont know my ass from a hole in the ground when dealing with American cars. But, as I said earilier I respect and like all fast cars.

Here is my issue. A girl that i'm seeing has an 83 TA with a 305ci engine, edelbrock intake manifold, Holley carb and mild street cam. The car runs and idles fine. However when driving the car and slowing to a stop the car shuts off and won't start. I've been told that there is a sensor on top of the carb that controls the A/F mixture which fails intermittenly causing the engine to flood. I understand that it could prolly be a million things, but I figured i'd post up and ask anyway. Any suggestions of things to look for ??

check the carb gasket and intake manifold gaskets for an air leak i had the same problem when i built my engine if that isent the problem write me back and i'll see what i can find out
