Installing hood insulation

Pull the retainers out and take them to your local GM dealership (one with a body shop). They should have something pretty close in stock that you can use to replace the originals. When you go to pull the originals it's almost guaranteed that you're going to break a couple, and the fingers of the retainers will be all messed up.
Where are you getting a new hood insulation at? If you're looking at getting the one from Car Motorsports it comes with new retainers.

I just cut those retainers off with a thin knife ... I get new ones from places like this Hood Insulation Retainer - GM
Only 3.90 for 25 of them .... autoparts stores do rip you off ... you normally get a big box of clips, bolts or whatever you need for near to nothing from places like the link above ... I used them for stuff when I put my TTA back together and replaced loads of old rusty bolts, nuts, broken clips etc.
