Ignition Switch Replacement - Car Will Not Turn Over

I have had trouble getting my TTA to start, and a couple days ago it wouldn't even turn over when I turned on the key. I removed the starter and checked it out and cleaned it and on the bench it appeared to work OK, but when I installed it, it still would not turn over, so I assumed it was a problem with my ignition switch. Today I removed the key cylinder but found it doesn't have the starter switch as part of it, but does connect to something in the steering column that moves when the key is turned to Start position. If anyone knows where the actual start switch is I would appreciate help in locating it so I can check it out.
It might also be a problem with the the Park/Neutral Safety switch, I think called the NSS, which is probably in the shifter console area; I will look into that tomorrow.
Any help is appreciated.

Maybe it's related to the VATS ? If that is the issue , you migh try this little gizmo...Amazon.com: Fortin - PASSLOCK-SL2-V2 - GM Passlock And VATS Transponder Key Bypass Module: Automotive

Also, found this for reference..
If you remove VATS, you will need to burn a new PROM.
  • To remove VATS, you don't need to physically remove it from the vehicle. You can just disconnect it.

VATS controls two features in the car: cranking and fueling.
    1) If you re-burn your PROM and delete VATS from the computer, the fueling will no longer be controlled by VATS.
    2) To enable cranking without VATS, you will need to remove and bypass the VATS Starter Enable relay (behind behind driver side kick panel)

Also, remove the VATS fuse, otherwise the Security Indicator will be flashing (or lit) while driving.

TTA ecm don't support VATS so not in the loop. Do a search for VATS on here as I'm sure I've posted info about it years ago.

Do the dash light up at all but just a no start condition or is it totally dead?
