Blueprinting would involve better than factory tolerances, better balancing than factory specs etc.
So would be interesting to understand exactly what he's doing when blueprinting a turbo.
Factory specs are a bit sloppy to be able to manufacture the parts cheaply but still make sure they work as designed and of course allowing for tolerance stack ups when assembled etc.
Very tight tolerances, surface finishes etc. are much more expensive (and most likely reqieres more expensive machines and or tooling) to produce and takes more time or additional tool changes if machined parts are involved. So if done correctly the turbo in this case would last much longer and possibly produce a bit more power in the end.

I've read a couple of articles on how to remove the turbo, :read: but I think I need to go talk to my mechanic tomorrow, since I don't think I am qualified to remove (or reinstall) the turbo.
I agree with Jan, you may actually have a better turbo that makes a bit more power when balanced. I hope so.
Don't fear removing the turbo, it's not that bad. In the past I did it it several times with little more than lawn mower and go cart repair in my background.
