Festival Cars #54 & #55

Alright, I have a soft spot for history and historical significance, so I thought I'd share an event that happened at the Michigan F-body Meet & Greet yesterday...maybe the first time it's happened before.

I met Warren and his wife last year at the Pontiac Spring Dust Off, chatted with them a while talking about the 89, and learned that not only did they just buy a TTA off eBay, but it was a festival car, and it was car #54.

We have festival car #55.

Warren's car is the 7th production car built...ours is the 11th built...possibly built the same day.

But we do believe that they did ride on the same truck to Indy...and that this is the first time the two of them have been together since the 1989 Indy 500...20 years and 6 days ago.

To further emphasize what a small world this is, Warren lives a scant 10 miles away from me.

EDIT: The third one in there belongs to Scott (92conv) on this board.

Way cool, thanks for sharing!!

So you say Warren's is no 7 built (VIN ending with 225421) and is Festival car number 54 ???

And yours is no 11 built (VIN ending with 225665) and is Festival car number 55 ??

Yours was delivered and preped by Tom Wood Pontiac Inc (IN) and Warrens by Don Sisk Pontiac Inc. So they probabrly came on different trailers to Indy.

Also a 3 day build difference between the two (yours was first :-))

Will update my VIN list once you confirmed the VIN's last six per above.

Wow.

Once again, you impress, Jan.

I can confirm my VIN matches your info, but I (epically) failed to get Warren's VIN.

Are you sure mine was built first? Odd they would build VINs out of sequence, isn't it?

EDIT: And knowing the somewhat randomness of which the Indy steward numbered the Festival cars, does this mean that they were delivered at different times, parked as a group, and numbered later? I made the assumption that the cars were numbered as they came off the trailers and parked...

EDIT 2: Yes, I understand they came TO Indy on different trailers, but I was referring to the YouTube video showing the cars getting unloaded...perhaps I misspoke... YouTube - 73rd Indy 500 Pace Car
