ecm replacement

hey guys could you tell me if the ecm from a 1986/1987 grand national is the same for the tta. i was thinking of picking up a used one to have as a spare. thanks, Bob:whistle:

Yes...but I understand the .bin file is different in the chip itself.The ECM's are the same.

Yes,sure will.

Be sure to swap over the calpack chip too if you ever use the spare ECM.

Unless the used one already has a calpack.

does anyone know the signs of a bad maf ? my car started to run rough and the #34 code came up. i believe this is the code for maf. the car also was hard to start and i had to adjust throttle to keep running. thanks, Bob:eam:

Sounds like a bad maf. When it's running rough again take the handle end of a screw driver and tap on the maf and see if the car smooths out. If so then you know. Basically what happens with the maf's when they go bad is cold solder joins inside them. That's why they will act up strange.

It's my opinion that unless you're particular about originality an LT-1 or LS1 MAF is the way to go along with a MAF translator.

Nothing wrong with the OEM maf but good remans,aftermarket or used or hard to come by.
