Digital Dash in a TTA ?

I stopped at a car show last night and a guy came and talked to me that he just got an 89 Turbo TA. He did not seem to know much about it really and mentioned his car has the optional digital dash. I never heard of a true TTA having this. He said he paid $6k for the car but it needs a bunch of work. He says it has the turbo engine so who knows?? He was pretty seriously interested in buying my car though... which is not for sale anyways.

Only TTA that had the digital gauges is the mule car owned by Rich, its the maroon 88, none of the production cars had digital gauges so I guess either the guy had a regular TA/GTA with a turbo fitted to the V8 or transplanted a Buick V6 into a digital gauge TA/GTA .... or swapped out the standard TTA gauges with the digital gauges but either or that would take some knowledge and custom wire-harness etc to make it work.

Or the guy did'nt have a friggin clue what he was talkin about! That's 90% of what comes out of people's mouth's at car shows! I had 3 guys standing in front of my GN looking at the engine bay.. The one guy looks at the other 2 and says this is a clone. The other guy says how do you know that.. he said all Grand Nationals came with chrome bumpers! You don't even want to know the riot act I read him. Needless to say he looked like a jack ass when he walked away with his friends :)

Usually when people tell me some crazy story like that I always tell them I'd love to come see it sometime and try to exchange numbers or e-mail. They usually come up with some other line at that point saying the car is somewhere far away or in pieces :)

He started out like he was making sense but the Digital Dash put a hole in his story pretty quick. Said he had an 88 GTA too. He seemed awefully intrigued by my car which is wierd if he had one !! Later in the conversation he tells me that someone GAVE him (free) a set of TTA badges because the guy couldn't sell them. Whaaaa?? Oh yeah, I hear stupid crap all the time at shows. The everpopular " My friend has one just like that, a Turbo Trans Am... except his is black". Or whatever. I find it amusing most of the time.

Wheeww, ya'll should avoid those car shows. Saturday night dragstrips is where I like, if they have no clue about a TTA at least they understand their own shit! haha! I used to hear people say that my car was a 400 sb chevy on nitrous. That's why I was killing all the stangs and irocs around town. My younger days.
