Hi,
The manifolds have conical flanges built into them, and the crossover should not be damaged by wrongly positioning it. I think sealer is a waste of time, as it will burn up pretty fast. I would, however, use lots of antiseize on the bolts.Even tightening is pretty important, and the pipe can be moved around quite a bit to get the right position. Sorry about your repeated leaks, rear main seal should be split lip;throw away the rope. Also, oil pans are a bugger to seal. Use Duttweiler's thick cork gasket with a lite coat of "the right stuff" on the block side, maybe that will last you a while. It's a lot easier to do while the motor is out. I was rebuilding my Regal motor, and took special car with the pan. I hope it holds up! My TTA never leaks a drop,so I leave it alone....
