Coolant tank heat shield

I seem to recall a mention by a member of someone saving their original shield and using a reproduction one. After detailing and touch up under the hood my shield stands out. I would sure be interested in a fresher looking piece. Thinking about a high heat semi-gloss to cover exposed fabric areas, but I am concerned about looking like aluminum paint. Any leads on someone making these would be much appreciated.

There used to be a company way back doing these they were thinner and clossier, I got one on mine and they do look good and where around $80-100 USD ... you might check with John Pearcy (http://www.johnsperformance.com) as he used to sell them and might have one left ...

Should not be too hard to get someone to make one I would think ... upholstery store should be able to help if you source the flame retardant material and use your OEM one as a template.

I had the same problem when I bought #345

Original coolant tank heat shield was on the car but looked pretty ragged

I pulled it off, gave it to my wife as a template and she made up a prototype using a padded, heat resistent material similar to what you see on an ironing board

First copy turned out nice and I'm using it now. Next copy I will ask her to make the hole around the fill cap smaller and to form fit the sides a little better

Total investment $6.00, and an hour of my wifes time to mock up the template

I'll post a picture tomorrow since it's already 10:37 pm here in SoCal
