chip replacement

ordered turbotweak chip 5.6 from eric. This may be a dumb question but where is the ecm? I heard it was behind the map holder, and how do you get to it to install it.

its underneath the dash on the passenger side, theres 3-4 screws or so and then two on the ecm itself, it will pull down then you remove the cover on the ecm casing and you can switch the chips out

Is it in a black box, I took the screws below the map holders and there was a black box sealed and I opened it and it has a circuit board it in, is this it?

This is my spare and does not have the chip carrier installed.

The hardest part is getting the entire ECM and bracket back up into the proper position. There's a "finger" for lack of a better term, that goes into a hole at the top of the dash. Getting underneath the dash to line this up is not the easiest thing.

+6 On all the above, just make sure the key/all power is off. Its also a good idea to "ground" your self to the car before you go into the ecm. Static charge can damage internal electronics.
