buying tips

Hey guys,
I'm new to the board and this is my first post. Well, I'm a really big Buick GN/TTYPE person and have my heart set on getting a turbo car, either Buick or Pontiac. Right now I've got my eye on what I think is a good deal on a TTA and there really hasn't been much in the TR world that is comparable in price and quality to this car. So if I get my car sold on wednesday I may go and get it.
The car is all stock and would more than likely stay that way for a while untill I knew I could afford to buy mods. I would however invest in the must haves like gauges and scantool and minor things like upgrade fuel pump and what not. I can already get a good deal on a almost brand new monster tach, digital fuel pressure guage with sender and boost guage for $350. I'm going to UTI in July and would plan on doing a total tear down and rebuild of the motor and get something like a comp cams complet kit to rebuild it with. The trans has already been taken care of so that's one less thing to worry about.
What problems should I look out for? What parts are destined to take a crap and should be taken care of before hand? How different are these motors from the ones in Buicks? I know different heads and headers, intercooler, cross drilled cranks. But how do they react differently to mods? Is the trans the same? Is the gearing the same? Do they have a lot of electrical or mechanical problems? What should I look for? Any information given will be appreciated. I'll be making my decision soon and I want to make the right one.

thanks
Dan

Check out www.89tta.com for some specs. Most of the same mods will apply. Where are you located and what is the mileage/condition/price of the TTA you are looking at? Is it a t-top car? Cloth or leather? Clean title?
