Braking Issues

I had a vary strange occurrence this week when I brought 1077 out of storage and would like to know if any one else has experienced this? While driving at any speed and then starting to brake, the RPM's seem to jump and the car feels difficult to stop for a second. The first time it happened it caught me by surprise and was vary, lets just say unpleasant feeling! It's about 3-700 RPM jump, so it's noticeable, then quickly comes back down and the car stops normal. Anyone have any input on this?

Do you run a lock-up convertor?
If so when the convertor is locked, it will unlock and cause a small rpm spike. But it shouldn't be as noticable as you describe. If you have a high stall convertor some times there is deceleration issues within the chip too.

If it is stock, then you run a lockup converter.

When coming to stop does the car want to stall?

It actually feels like it wants to accelerate at the moment just before it comes to a stop, almost like I'm blipping the throttle in heal-toe driving, only I'm not. in other words the revs spike and the car becomes harder to stop just for an instant, kind of forcing you to brake harder. I had it out today and rather than move cars around my Girl took it to run an errand and she came back all panicked because it did it to her, she said it felt like it wasn't going to stop, like she lost the brakes for a second. Last I checked it was a Pontiac not a Toyota!

Have you checked to see if the throttle cable is binding?

Nope, I'll look, but i have a feeling it might be vacuum related.
