ARP Head Bolts

Well I just ordered mine, the part numbers are as follows (there isnt a kit available for our heads)
washers (10) APW1316
(8) 5AP2.500-1
(4) 5AP3.250-1
(4) 5AP4.500-1

These are the 190,000 psi 12point bolts.
the factory used torque to yield bolts that can't be reused and must be replaced if you ever change a head gasket.

Hey, www.johnsperformance.com sells the ARP head bolts in a kit for the TTA. I know it's too late but may help someone else. He also has lots of other stuff. I dont get anything for this, just a happy customer.

u need to grind the header to get them to fit and need to change the header bolts to smaller diameter heads on the ones that interfear

I hate it when someone else is right

but George is (and he doesnt even have the same heads anymore

) the other thing to do is not use the washer in those locations (3 per side) and just chamfer the holes so the radius on the bolt head does not hit the head. I tried to put the header on ahd it would not fit with the bolt and washer.

OK, I have edited the quantity of washers (was 16, is now 10) because as George stated the headers will hit the bolts and grinding will be involved. If you dont use the washers on the three bolts on each head that interfere wiht the headers you can avoid the problem. It is best to countersink the hole slightly since the bolt has a radius from the shank to head. It is not absolutely necessary since the shank is smaller than the hole and the radius shouldnt contact it anyways. It is imperitave that you use assembly lube on the bolt under the head since you will not get a true torque without the washer and lube.

I will probably call ARP back and let them know the final results of all of this and try to get them to make a kit out of it.
