whats the point of the ls1 maf? also... why move the air filter out of stock location? its in the wheel well sucking colder air? why move it closer to the engine in the bay? won't it be hotter? need opinions
You want the air filter to suck cold air so closer to the fender opening is better and if you can shield it from the engine bay hot air even better.
LT1 MAF (3") and LS1 MAF (3.5") is just more reliable and readily available and seems to last forever compared to the stock MAF that fails at some point and finding a good calibrated replacement that works is a night mare .. that was really the reason the Translator and LT1/LS1 MAF setup was developed for the GN and the TTA.
You can get extender chips and other fancy stuff allowing for more adjustments as well using the translator and LS1/LT1 MAFs ... do a search on turbobuick.com and you can learn more.
If your stock MAF still works fine I would not bother at the moment unless you just want to spend the money to be sure you have a more reliable setup.
