A few questions

the vac line looks like it went to the charcoal can., the burnt wire looks like they jumped the blower motor (a/c, heat)
 
Aftermarket fpr, the stock one is black bosch and non-adjustable. The vac line like Rob said could be to the charcoal can. If you trace it down it is the line below the vac line going to the fpr.

That don't look good on the way they jumped the wires and melted the plug. It could be at the a/c, heat blower motor, they could have tried to bypass the relay or something. That needs to be fixed before you melt it more or cause a engine fire.

If it were my car, I would make sure everything is ok and running right before I painted the car. If you paint the car and then do the work to the engine and other places. There is a chance of messing up the new paint.

Also you need new vac lines. The one at the check valve looks really bad.
 
Speaking of engine fire's, it is a good idea to keep a fire extinguisher IN the car at all times.... been more than one motor on here for sale because the owner could only stand there and watch it burn

Ok the charcoal can is just hanging there will check on that. Dont know what the hell they done to that wire?

Yes trying to get this done before paint for sure and yes sir that wire got me worried. Wonder if I can cut it and heat sleeve it?

Now that would be great! My 87' T/A, caught on fire years ago, lucky I turned it off with my shirt in front of Hollywood police station, :WOOT:
 
The wires that look burnt, arn't, its a grease thats put in the connector. The red wire with the aftermarket crimp connector has replaced the factory connector as that one does go bad, it should have been filled with grease also buuut they didn't..
 
The burnt wires are not at the a/c, heat, fan motor. They are behind the map sensor. As noted in my pic, the red wire orig goes to a small gray connector and your burnt larger connector is for the other wires. Your small gray connector is missing from your car, it might have got burnt or melted. Hope this helps!!

Thats what TTOP350 is saying, it was replaced and the pic Marcel posted is behind the map sensor
 
It would be nice to find the original connectors and splice them back in. That sure is getting hot, and even with the grease might not hold up long.

Does anyone know what these wires are for? As originally asked.

Any idea what connector I can get to replace it? And yes that is the one behind the map sensor.
 
That is connector C-115. The wire comes from the fusible links and goes to the blower high speed relay (Heater blower), then to the blower resistors and then to the blower motor. May have a blower motor issue or hopefully they fixed it before splicing the wires. The connectors are pretty standard on these cars. I got mine through a local salvage yard. As far as the exhaust leak at the intake, you can try retourqing the bolts, but you will most likely have to replace the gasket. Hope this helps.

Thanks jhill, I'm getting the connector straighten out, as far as the exhaust leak I did try tighten the bolts, and the leak was still there, so I'll replace the gasket. Just weird that it would leak if the engine is rebuilt?
 
The FPR is a modified OEM one making it adjustable not sure who made them but I had one on mine as well but later replaced with a proper billet adjustable one.

Caspers Electronics or Racetronix are both great sources for any GM/Delphi wire connectors/plugs if you need to raplace it ... or a junk yard then pull the pins out to replace yours.
