I have a 1980 4.9 Turbo Trans Am. It is partialy restored. It has been sitting outside for two years after a engin over haul. At first it would back fire any time you hit the gas. we adjusted the timing and now it doesn.t backfire untill it hits about 3000 rmp when the turbo kicks in. Is this an issue with the turbo or could the problem be somwhere else

Unlikely it's the turbo.

Is it backfiring through the exhaust or through the intake?

What did you set timing to? Do you know what you're running for vacuum advance? Cap and wires all good?

If timing checks out, I'd focus on fuel next.

I need some help..80 t/a non turbo, wiper motor problem, wipers motor doesn't work, grounded wires per manual doesn't help, and the mechanism doesn't want to complete its travel of the blades, goes up about 6" and comes down, attached is a photo, and a quicktime movie of the operation everything seems right, but the mechanism doesn't want to work the wipers, any suggestions beside driving it into a tree?

Thanks..Ron! [email protected] 1-803-917-5085
