Hi Joe!
Besides it may being something in the steering column, I know that I have that problem with my 1981 Turbo Trans Am.
I lowered the front of the car over 2 inches, and when I go over speed bumps, the shifter rod bent. So, when I put the car back into park, the key will not shut off. I just reach under the steering column, and grip the part of the column that moves, and move it. The car then shuts off, and the key comes out.
So........by chance, did you bottom out somewhere?
Sorry, but other than that, I don't know what to tell ya.
Hope this helps,
George
