Scott Kelly's Website comments

We haven't heard from him in awhile. I hope all is well.

Yep been a long time since Scott was on here; hopefully he's fine and get back to use to share more information with us all and get his web site updated as well

I hope Scott is doing well. This is an informative and interesting thread. I enjoyed his presentation at "The Reunion" very much.

Scott,

When you got the engines from the Flint plant my understanding is they had plain grey spark plug wires on them so I presume you binned these and replaced them with the 20th Anniversary logo versions ?

Also the passenger front side engine lift bracket on the engines when you got them had the GN lift bracket only attached to that one front stud on the intake; again i presume you binned and replaced it with the engine lift bracket that attach to both the intake stud and the back of the turbo and turbo heat shield bracket?

Anything else you did / replaced when you got the engines from the Flint factory 36 (Buick) plant?

Interesting information on the lift bracket. I didn't know the GN and TTA had different ones. I'll have to run out and compare.

Hello Guys,
I have had a rough past year due to a number of things but am good now. I will take some time and answer all the questions that I didn't respond to over the past months soon.
I will be at the Moose Preserve Wednesday to visit with those who are there.
I am also going to get some help to update the Website and add the Typhoon and Syclone data as well as giving much more detail on Prototype Automotive Services, Triad and PAS, Inc.
Have a great day,
Scott

Hey Scott. The SyTy event was in Bowling Green Ky. today. I didn't get to go, but I'm sure it was cool. Welcome back.

Welcome back Scott, lots of new stuff posted on the forum along with questions for you in this thread. And we are eager to continue building a proper data base with regards to build info (dealers, receive and ship dates, power module and engine/transmission serial numbers etc) along with the City of Industry assemble and quality check information (for each station) and of course the files four each of our TTAs ;)

Hello Scott, hope you are well and doing good.

The PAS build files are scanned and made available for the Syclone, Typhoon. They are on syty.net forum. LINK BELOW. The value of these as well as the historic importance is great for the Sy, Ty folks like me. I got mine a couple days ago, and it contained 16 pages. These showed me how the production, quality of control as well as other things that were involved. I was lucky enough to have the original owner of my Syclone rate the Syclone on various things in a survey. And I also had some old service records included. All this is very good learning more about PAS and the early history of my Syclone.

It would be great if we could get the PAS build folder, records for the TTA as well as other documents involved from Van Nuys but before they were sent to Pontiac distribution center. Buildsheet and other docs that were in and with each of our TTAs.

With the TTA 25th aniversary next year it would be great if us owners had more production information from PAS.

We all appreciate all you have done for the TTA world as well as PAS's other products.

Better late than never lol.

That is some cool documents; can't wait until we get the same info on our TTA's ... at least we know the documents / files are still out there and we all hope they will see the light one of these days and hopefully sooner rather than later :worthy:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Scott !

Hope to hear from you in the new year and look forward to your updated website and anything else you have time to make available for us all in the new year !

Hi Scott,

Hope things are well, not heard from you for some time.

Any updates on the website project yet?

Scott,

Question on the engine oil pan drain plug, see pic attached.

So we know it was due to ground clearence we had that allen head style drain plug on the TTA

However question is was this installed in the pan already in Flint when Buick built the engines or did you at PAS replace it when you built the power modules in City of Industry?

Reason for asking is that the part number used (parts books) always pointed to the regular hex head style drain plug and not the one used on the TTA however I just found out that someone did buy a oil pan (they come with the drain plug) maybe 10 years ago brand new at a GM dealership and it did come with the TTA style (identical) drain plug.

So just curious to understand if this was specced out and the oil pans installed in Flint when they built the engines for you already had this drain plug or not.

Next question; do you happen to have the blue print still for this plug? Would like to get exact replacements done but with the addition of a magnet on there for us all to use.
